Limits for KmlLayers

  • Maximum of 1000 features per file
  • Max fetched file size of 3MB (KML or KMZ)
  • Max uncompressed file size of 10MB
  • Combo limit per map:
    • Instances of the KmlLayer class plus
    • Total length of KML/KMZ file URLs

As of early August 2019, the size limits appear to have been silently lowered so that files under 10MB uncompressed yield a DOCUMENT_TOO_LARGE error status.
