best way to import 26 years of photos and video ? (45k items)

Hello,

Its now 3 day that im importing my photo library. (26 years and around 45k items photos and videos)

I use immich "docker version" 2.7.0 (docker desktop) Im facing many problems:

• CPU load (client side and server side)
• Hard drive load
• Docker Hang (have to stop the docker and restart)
• Docker VHD file exploding the C drive

I proceed this way:
just dropped the main directory of my photos in the immich web interface.

To avoid thoses problems im proceeding year by year (variying number of photos from 2k to 5k)

I try stoping some recognition process and other queues but it did not help so much...

How do you proceed?

I have 20 years of photos (50,328) and videos (1,560). I just used the external library feature for those.

Which kind of device is your immich server on?

I'm planning to upload about 100k photos, but they're on the same computer as immich, and I'm planning to use a cli to upload, instead of the browser. And I'm on linux, so I'm hoping docker will behave much better.

Synology NAS 920+. I keep a backup copy of all my photos off my desktop to the Synology, and then I just set up Immich to point to that directory as an external library. So no movement was necessary, but the ML scanning and processing did keep the synology busy for a few days
